Type 1 in the comment to agree. Type 2 in the comment to disagree. Need some advice and perspective of my recent experience. Qn: Do you think it was wrong that the organizer rejected me to enter the career fair because of my attire? The organizer of the UAE Career Fair did not approve of me to enter the venue because I was wearing jeans. They did state that the attire is “business casual”. They were concerned that it might not reflect well of SMU. The organizer gave me judgemental eyes for wearing jeans. I think that time has changed. More students want to dress informally and be themselves. However, through this experience, I guess time is not moving fast enough. I guess all they care about is the “SMU image”. Whatever that is may be. They don’t care if they have to reject because I’m a “student” and not VIP. In the end, I listened to their decision and walk away without arguing with them because I have to respect their decision but I felt unsatisfied. Unsatisfied not because they rejected but the way they handled the situation was very judgemental. They have no flexibility or courage to overlook a detail called “attire rule”. I really need advice about this so I can learn from this experience. Please type in the comment. Thank you!
