I am currently a paralegal of a law firm. The recent article about lawyers leaving the profession has attracted a lot of attention. However, I believe that support staff, paralegal and legal executives are overlooked. While lawyers are burning out, whenever they are pressured, or being scolded by judges, they bring their anger down to the paralegal and legal executives. I was just being labelled as “stupid” and “having brains but never use.” In fact, in most law firms, the paralegal and legal executives are the ones drafting the entire legal documents and not the lawyers. In fact, some lawyers don’t even talk to the clients and it was the paralegal. So to all lawyers who are always complaining tired and getting scolded by judges, please look at the mirror and think who is the one who’s actually doing the work. Thank you for reading.
