Hi all, I am a small business owner and I just wanted to vent because my legal team advised me to not to write anything publicly tied to the business. I engaged in a marketing agency last year to help with content production and ads, we are a small team and more focused on ops side. Business was okay and then we started looking at marketing agencies so we can scale a bit more. Got sold a 5 digit package from a local SG agency that seems to know what they're doing. Honestly very expensive but naive me decided I should support local, give my own home base a chance. What followed after was months of hell working with junior professionals who don't know what they were doing. Sales guy dipped after I complained. Founder tried to tell us to work with them longer, results take time. No results, no accountability and we wasted our time and focus trying to get answers instead of getting for the results we paid for. Of course we know results not guaranteed, but this is complete zero. It's not normal, other agencies we worked with prior never did this badly. I am honestly just disappointed. We went with another (SEA) agency and the working relationship is so much better and they cost a fraction of what the Singaporean agency did. I can't even name and shame in order to prevent defamation case (the agency of course is much bigger than my small business!). I feel horrible knowing I am probably not the only small business that they 'scammed'. We have hence learned to do some marketing scope ourselves. That said, I wish there was a way for government to regulate these digital services. If we are not getting the results we are promised, sold the moon and rainbows, isn't this borderline fraud? We should hold agencies and businesses accountable. Small claims court doesn't really do much when it comes to lack of quality. We need to do more, else honestly what's stopping businesses from outsourcing? Quality matters in our little red dot! It is what sets us apart.
