From what I know, sg startups really pale in comparison to US SV startups. In the same series (e.g. Series A), the kind of money SG startups raise seem minuscule compared to US startups, and it just seems like sg startups are growing at a much slower pace. I think there is also really a stark contrast in terms of engineering talent. US startups are willing to pay big money for good engineers coming from the top schools (maybe because they raise more money?), and it seems like SG startups are just looking for cheap labour and they hire pretty unimpressive people. not many people in NUS CS would voluntarily give up big tech for a sg startup, but might do so to work at a US startup
