#2177: Does FAANG and other US companies hire people who worked at US sanctioned companies?

I have been on a job search and found that some of the applications ask you to fill in whether you are from certain sanctioned countries like Iran, Syria, etc. Most of these are US/Europe companies. I think this is due to the political turmoil and the economic sanctions that almost every country imposed on them. On a second thought, there are certain Chinese companies, e.g. Huawei, Sensetime, etc, are also on US sanction list because they are alleged to break certain laws or other political reasons. Some of these companies also have a quite large office in Singapore and is also hiring engineers. I am wondering if being hired by such companies (working in SG) will hurt the chances of getting into FAANG, or any other US companies? I understand the sanction is more about how the company operates in different countries at large, but I am not sure if individuals employees of such companies will also be put on lower priority or straight-up banned during screening because these companies are deemed as "bad" or "evil". sanction news article: - https://2017-2021.state.gov/the-united-states-further-restricts-huawei-access-to-u-s-technology/index.html - https://www.scmp.com/tech/big-tech/article/3159808/us-sanctions-dji-and-ai-firms-including-megvii-over-alleged-xinjiang - https://www.scmp.com/news/china/article/3159297/biden-administration-sanctions-chinese-ai-company-sensetime-citing-human
